I’ve finally gotten to the age in life where I am 1,262,304 seconds, 21,038 minutes, 350,640 hours, 14,610 days and 2,087 weeks old. If you took the time to do the math; that’s 40-years old. As tradition would have it; folks would ask in the days that followed my birthday; “how does it feel to be 40, now?”
My Answer
I think most would assume I’d provide some level of feedback of feeling old, tired, and achy or a combination of them all, but the reality is I feel better than I did 10-15 years ago. Most everything is better from weight and body fat percentage, muscle mass, flexibility, strength, etc. Of course there are things that are lacking, such as the hair on my head and I will most definitely fall asleep if I sit down too long, but I reflected on what I remembered when I turned 30 and there’s zero comparison. Additionally, I have friends that are 10+ years my senior and remember them getting to this age as well and can very well see that our experiences turning 40 are very different.
Pay It Forward
In my heart of heart, I’m not the guy who gatekeeps what can be of benefit to others: I’ve been blessed in life to have folks take me under their wing, and show me things I very well may not have been exposed to had it not been for their selflessness: I want to do the same for those that are getting to this important intersection in life. The goal is not to stand on top of the mountain top as the authority or subject matter expert, however, I’m asked often about how often I work out, what I eat on a daily basis, if there are any supplements I take and so on and so forth. I want to use this platform to not only answer those questions but to engage with others that are nearing or perhaps have already entered the 2nd half of their life: I’m here to learn as much as I am to advise.
